So far the
basic structure of the app is that it helps people get to work/from one destination
to another through a route that has the best air quality in a place that has particularly
high pollution. This app would be a running/walking/cycling app that would be
produced and sponsored by Adidas, helping keeping people moving and lowering
pollution of the city of London.
We discussed
what the app should contain in order for it to be successful such as what we
would want from an app like this, which is an advantage of being part of the
target demographic. Features discussed are as follows:
- GPS to start journey from current location and basis of running app.
- 'Green Route indicating the cleanest route to take to your destination.
- Visual indicators of the pollution in the areas the users are looking at.
- Alternative methods... e.g. run, walk and cycle.
Possibilities:
- Group training sessions through the app
- Doing walks for people who want to keep fit suggested in the app
Main Considerations through the app:
- Adidas branded theme throuhgout, so it looks like part of the actual brand.
- Ways that the air pollution could be monitored.
- Strong and consistent copy used throuhgout.
- Getting runners in clean areas.
- Someway of creating an incentive to get people using the app.
In order to push the app to meeting the criteria of the brief in a more concise way we should adapt the features in the app.
In order to get people involved with the app and be able to pass the app onto others there should be a strong incentive. Already as a brand Adidas offers a discount to a group of the demographic they are aiming this brief towards (17-25). This is student discount offering students with valid ID 15% discount in store and online. Therefor if a similar amount of discount could be accrued through the use of the app, the brand would be offering users an USP. 15% is something that the user could accrue over time, they would reciever 5% after 50 uses 10% after 100 uses and 15% after 150 uses of the app. This could be risen at times of peak pollution in the city to an amount such as 20% during peak seasons such as a week over christmas encouraging people to move away from cars and public transport and use the Adidas app to create a clean and safe run which gives you benefits to create your route instead.
This incentive could also be initiated/pushed through the use of a refferal code such as refer a friend and have an extra 5 runs added to your clock, getting you closer to the next level of the incentive. This is something that is successfully dont in other health membership schemes e.g. some gyms dont have a signup fee for refferals.
Post discussion Lucy and myself decided that the app features that would be needed:
- Home/Sign in
- Referal Option
- Map for both running and walking (we have decided to remove cycling from the equation as cycling in cities need to be on the roads, and were trying to get people away from the roads and benefit themselves and the city in less polluted zones aka. no roads)
- Profile Section
- Activity tracker to keep track of your health
- Settings
- Points tracker to keep track of your incentive points
- Shop where the incentive could be used and Adidas products could be pushed.
