LGBT - Initial Ideas

In line with what the client wanted, I am considering creating a modular design to represent the different parts of the rainbow within the LGBT flag, splitting the colours up into different modules allows for a difference to make it not the key element of the piece; whilst retaining key visual culture links to the community. This could be exemplified further within the creation of characters to resemble some of the colours that are also taken from the flag e.g. trans, gay, lesbian etc.

My initial ideas include:
  • Creating a series that is representative of the different members of the LGBTQ plus community, through the use of colour, layout and illustration.
  • Create an identity that subtly typographical based, encapsulating the different colours that are relevant to the LGBT+ relevant visuals. Along for the use of colour but also allowing for the event to have its own identity within the group.
  • Create an identity uses a visual identity of the rainbow flag, making billing to the LGBT+ community visually relevant, and at the forefront of the identity. Yet adapt and develop a way in which the flag can be presented in a non obvious manner.

Moving forward:
Before moving ahead with any ideas I will be presenting my initial ideas to the team, who are organising the event. This will give them the opportunities have direct that on which visual identity they feel would have best impact upon the event, the purposes they require. This also gives the opportunity to implement an update on timescales and any tighter requirements of the brief, that may have changed since the original briefing.
