This is the design I have chosen to
continue my mock-ups with, in my feedback this was the most popular design. I
believe this is because it correctly represents the brand identity in the most
concise way, while taking into consideration modern design trends. I also chose
this design as I think it will be the most appealing to my target audience; my
brand aims towards younger fashion conscious individuals and my design takes on
the same graphic technics as other brands that people within the same age would
take on - such as COW or high street shops e.g. TOPSHOP.
I began considering which mock-ups would be
most relevant to the business I had chosen; labels are used for practical
purposes, but they must be visually pleasing. The logotype that I have used allows
me to take advantage of the white spacing around merchandising that I’m
printing on, thus portraying the modern clean-cut design which links to my
brands identity. I have centralised all of the content on the mock up as this
reaffirms the look of balance presented in the logo type through the even ascenders
and descenders, through centralising the logotype it makes the logo the focus
of the label.
In my bag design, I wanted to confirm what
the brand's visual focuses are, hence why I kept the brand as simplistic as
possible. The logotype has been centred in order to make it the focus of the
bag; it also resembles the label/tag, giving the brand an overall recognisable
brand identity. Having the logotype as the thing on the bag is a technique used
by most retail establishments, this is because it’s a promotional technique. By
keeping to the simplicity of the design, it makes the brand more memorable to a point where shops are even recognisable to the colour they
use for the bag, e.g. Selfridges yellow bag.
