Tinder |
I am using tinder as a
partial reference because of the nature of the app, rather than its
demographic. The app has a swipe feature that allows you to simply view a
couple of photos of the person you are currently on and either swipe to the
left to say no or right to say yes, once both of you have matched you are able
to begin messaging. Once matched it gives you a notification with further
options. Filters can also be added to the mix to only show people of a certain
age, gender, location and so on. This is something I believe would be useful
within my app if someone was looking for a particular type of artist that specializes
in a particular field, or is confident within a particular package. I would
also like to include a feature (similar to tinder) that it only allows you to
view the persons profile once you have both matched. This means that only
artists who take interest in each other’s work will be able to take the
discussion further, this filters out time wasters as well as making the app
more comfortable to be used by people are nervous to get in touch with other
artists; which is the target audience and reasoning behind the app in the first
place.

Behance |
Behance is a well-known web resource for creatives, that is now linked
with adobe, in which creatives can share their work in order to create a stress
free and discoverable portfolio to show clients, or gain feedback from other
creatives. Behance has the ability to upload your work as a WIP (work in
progress) meaning that it can continue to be developed and updated directly
from CC. They have introduced features such as creative portfolio which aids a
simply designed portfolio, and wallpaper which introduces artists’ works as
high res files to be used elsewhere. Some of the elements of this app inspire
my ideas such as the WIP feature, as someone’s work is always changing and
developing so should their creative platform profile.

Dribbble |
Dribbble is the most
commonly known social media platform for creatives. It’s a community of
designers that are answer questions each day. Web designers, graphic designers,
illustrators etc. Dribbble is
a place to show and tell, promote, discover, and explore design.
Founded in 2009, Dribbble began as a side
project and is now a tiny, bootstrapped and
profitable company helping the
world’s design talent share their creations and get hired. Dribbble has become a go-to resource for discovering and
connecting with designers around the globe. Dribbble will influence my app in
terms of the way creatives are encouraged to share and their ideas and work
together, although I will be taking out the feedback element. The whole basis
of the app is to get people working together, rather than simply commenting on each
other’s work and moving on. This is why I think it is important to not release the
profile page until the artists have both matched.
