Book Initial Design Inspiration

  • Possibly change the book into a notebook, moleskin style and change the design into almost an interactive scrapbook aligning the user's journey with their own.

This will enable the reader to be able to be more interactive with the book itself, allowing them to note down their own thoughts and experiences; whilst travelling around.
  • Cutouts of typical and influential symbols of Vietnam.

Physical representation of the culture of the country that becomes another visual element, that can also be engaged with through touch.
Would give an insight into the content of the book, which the whole book is about, giving an insight into the emotional and physical journey whilst travelling through Sapa.
  • Emboss the cover discretely with symbols of Vietnam.

Embossing symbols into the cover give the look of a traditional Vietnamese book and adds an element of the cover and aesthetic approach to the book without distracting from the content.
  • Illustrative interpretation of the visual stereotype of the Vietnamese language.

Brings another element of uniqueness to the book that makes it stand out from competitors and also makes the book identifiable with Vietnamese culture.

  • Editorial style, in a journal kind of way.

Appeals to the target audience being modern and design conscious.
Incorporates the basis of the book being around the imagery inside, this could some how possibly becoming interactive.
  • Quotes about 'an emotional journey through Sapa'
  • Large contrast between tradition and nature found in Sapa and the process' of the western world.

Could be screen printed and therefore bring the cost of production down.
Would the contrast add or take away from the book format being inspired by the content.
  • Punched holes for coordinates on the page.
  • Illustrative representation of North Vietnam.

Bringing an artistic element into the book, the illustration could be unfinished; adding to the interactive element.
The ticket punching would add texture and difference to the book making it stand out from others on the market.
