Grid Systems

Grids
When designing a publication it is important to keep in mind a consistent grid system, this needs to be something that is followed throughout as there is so much content it can become easy to treat each spread as if it were a completely different piece all together.

Column Grids
  • The information is all presented in a discontinuous column.
  • Gives flexibility in terms of the space you can utilise in the background.
  • Easily organize-able in different variations.

Manuscript grids
  • Simplest grid structure
  • Large rectangle area
  • Used for continuous amount of content of full bleed/large images.

Modular grids
  • Gutters between each cell creates a strong and consistent base that can be followed throughout.
  • Perfect for large amounts of images and mixed text to create a editorial feel.
