Loading Logo Page |
This is the initial loading up a page that will appear when opening the app at first, it will simply display the logo. This is something majority of apps have. I also want to explore the idea of using an animation for this page to make it more visually interactive.
Sign Up/Login Page |
Sign Up/Login Page 2 |
My initial ideas for the sign up/ login page has been narrowed down to this selection. The first one is playing on the idea of creating the look of simplicity and making it look as minimal as possible; continuing the theme of keeping the focus on the work and the artists themselves throughout the app. Although when looking at various other social media apps and apps which require a log in, I decided that it would be needed to have a various platform sign up. As well as this enabling the user to connect various accounts (which will help to build their profile within the app) it will allow my app to be promoted through these means, e.g. Facebook sign up requires a like of the page, further promoting the app itself. This also may be a way of building the profiles within the app to links artists to collaborate with similar interests or styles.
Homepage:
Idea 1 |
The first digital development was based on the initial idea that seemed to have the most editorial layout. Which I thought would be the most fitting for the target audience, being focused towards artists. Although within feedback I was told about how this makes it too busy, and the addition of the small amount of text just further takes away from the idea of simplicity and the focus on the work rather than the artist as a person. The idea of this interface example was having the whole concept of still matching and denying certain works depending on whether the user likes them or not, but taking away the tinder style familiar layout to make the app have its own unique identity. Although the familiarity of having a design that is similar to something that people already know may be a plus point as they would be more confident using something they recognise; making it easier to introduce to the industry.
Idea 2 |
The second digital development of idea two takes away the extra informative element which the previous design captured. This brings the focus back to the work itself and away from the artist, this is something that I wanted to keep focussing on in the conceptualisation of the app, encouraging collaboration between working with people because of a shared interest in each other’s working style; rather than the person themselves. This wireframe shows a similar layout to that of tinder, with the centre image allowing you to slide through their portfolio slightly; and the two selectors at the bottom allowing you to like or move on from that certain person’s work. Although this design is familiar to people and may encourage the use of the app through a recognisable interface, it almost takes away the identity of the app; giving it the feel of an extension of tinder.
Idea 3 |
My final initial digital design takes elements from each of the previous designs to create a happy medium between the two. The wireframe shows a full scaled image of the profiles work that appears, keeping the focus on the artwork. The boxes in the lower part of the wireframe would be the like or dislike button, although I want to develop the way in which the work swipes of the screen to not make it too identifiable with a tinder style. The main image on the page will change depending on where you click on it to give a quick preview of their portfolio. The wireframes at the top of the page will allow access to options, messages and your own profile. This is the idea which I wish to develop, as within the crit it was spoken about keeping the simplistic minimal style and I think it also compromises between the two previous designs, incorporating the plus points highlighted to me within each.
Profile Page
Idea 1 |
My initial idea for the profile page was based upon a classic recognisable profile home screen. In which it shows you the information that would be presented to the user when accessing another’s profile, as well as allowing you to edit it. Although the familiarity would allow the user to easily fall into being comfortable with the app I think it is too similar to what is currently out in the market and doesn’t particularly aim towards my target market of design-conscious creatives.
Idea 2 |
Idea 2 shows the same ideas as the previous, although consisting of a different layout. This makes the user experience more of a unique thing as it is not something they are used to, also by placing the profile picture at the bottom of the page rather than eye level it adds to the concept of removing a personal element and focusing on the artwork itself; promoting collaboration.
Idea 3 |
This led me to the idea of removing the idea of having profile pictures at all. This would completely make the app about the use of the portfolio feature, better suiting the apps conceptualisation. The three boxes at the top would begin by presenting the most 3 viewed images from your portfolio and continue to change in a flap alarm clock like manner to show the rest of the information.
Idea 4 |
My final idea captures the essence of the previous although I have minimalised the information that can be seen keeping a focus on the work again. The wireframe boxes that contain an x would be presenting the images as if in the previous idea. Although the written information would be presented in a similar kind of way, giving the page a more editorial kind of atheistic; driving in on the target demographic I am aiming towards, making the profile unique and changing each time, similar to that of the artists’ work themselves.
Messages Wireframes:
Idea 1 |
The concept behind this wireframe is to make it as simple as possible for the method of contact to happen, a simple box with the image from that artist's portfolio that you have viewed most, alongside the message itself. The nature of this page changes each time when you click on it, similar to the concept behind the last page, to give a sense of uniqueness change and the difference each time the section is opened. I believe simplicity is needed in this section as the mystery of having to select the person without knowing anything about them apart from the snippet of their portfolio will have already taken place.
Idea 2 |
My second idea is the more abstract of the two and suits the profile page better, bringing the app together as a more complete and polished finished product. The idea behind this wireframe is that the messages will not be able to be seen, rather a snip-it of the artist’s work that you were wanting to collaborate with. This concept takes away the idea of remembering who you were messaging, again stripping down the app to basics of only visual links; keeping the focus on the artwork itself rather than the artist. This may also remind someone if they are feeling nervous about opening the message, why they contacted that particular artist in the first place.
Idea 3 |
My third idea again is a development of the previous two, this doesn’t feature within my sketches but it is part of the natural digital development process. Rather than only containing images or only containing pictures alongside the messages, it will have the messages at the lower half of the page, giving a preview of the most recent conversations. At the upper half of the page, it will have three spaces for the content of three artists the user has either not contacted yet, encouraging them to make new links and contact new people, the sole purpose of the app. This wireframe design still incorporates the practicality while still retaining the values of the app.
Public View of another's profile:
Idea 1 |
This idea captures the structure of how I want the profiles to look once they have been unlocked by the other user. The screen would have an infinity type scroll layout to it and will be expanded the more that the user adds to their profile. In the mix of this ever-changing layout, although to unlock more information you must message the person first, further pushing the idea of collaboration. The images would be interchangeable from your own profile but change depending on what the audiences most viewed images are from your initial ‘swipe’ of the profile. The linked profiles would be presented towards the lower half of the page this will keep the focus on the app itself. This would be the only thing the user would be able to see until further messaging the artist to get more information available.
Idea 2 |
This development takes some of the information out of the last design,
allowing for more space for the work. This puts the concentration on the work
itself which is the basis for the app. The content would be scrollable and the
image layout would change each time the page is accessed.
