The brief itself is initially split into two parts of initial research:
Creating a body of research using both primary and secondary research resources/methods, to understand the content and audience for the design process of our chosen subject field.
After accumulating this body of research, the target audience for your chosen brief will be established. The research will be needed to create an understanding of the visual literacy that is relevant to this particular target audience.
The research will go towards the creation of a guidebook/publication on my chosen subject.
Initial Ideas:
- Stress help guide
- Dealing/understanding student living
- Living in a big city (Birmingham)
- Digbeth, Birmingham food places to visit
- Travelling Prague guidebook
- A guide to gay (celebrating 50 years of legalisation)
- Hidden Leeds
Chosen Idea:
A guide to Gay (Celebrating 50 years of legalisation)
My decision was based on the personal edge to the chosen subject which will allow me to become more engaged with the work itself. I will be able to use my own knowledge and understanding of gay history and movements to base my research and consider a few key aspects to be able to create a guide, that gives the audience an idea of LGBT history and current influence today. This is something that is currently very apt being the anniversary of 50 years of legalisation, meaning there is a lot of exhibitions about that I can use to gather primary research.
