When considering the successful
relevant apps, I began to look at the colours used within their interface, the
colours of the app I believe are representative of the target demographic and
needs to be aimed towards such. Bearing in mind the aesthetic I want to achieve
(flat colour) I took samples from the following three apps.
Tinder |
The colour scheme her
is very tonal towards a warm pink into orange. The fade here works well and
adds a sense of depth on the screen to an app which has a very flat outlook. Within
this app this is needed, as the main colours are white within the backgrounds. The
vibrant colours are modern and captures the audience of the attention, this is something
I want to be evident in my app; making it clear that the app is aimed towards
creatives. Although due to the various gradients evident in the app it creates
a varied and large pallet, this is something I want to keep reduced and minimal
within my app as I want the main focus to be around the art work itself.
Behance |
The behance colour
scheme has a more basic tonal theme throughout. 3 shades of blue are used as a
base for the app, these are then contrasted against a mustard yellow, these
have been used as they are complimentary which is meant to give a pleasing atheistic
for the user. Although the type of blue used screams corporate branding, which
takes away from the creative intent of the app itself. Though the app does have
the simplified colour scheme I am trying to achieve the use of three similar tones
does not make for the flat lay style they were aiming for in the design.
Dribbble |
Dribbble has achieved
the most modern and creative looking app. The use of cyan links back to
printing processes, something which will be common knowledge to the target demographic
for the app. The rest of the design consists of deep greys, giving the most possible
contrast against the pink hue. Because of how bright the pink is it has been contained to geometric boundaries where needed, again I believe this creates a
corporate look and I want to make my app seem more fluid.
