Armelle Caron - Wayfinding
Armelle Caron is a French artist who works a lot with the idea of mapping, therefore I
thought she would be interesting to look into in terms of inspiration for my
wayfinding system. The most relevant work depicts a map in which she is cut up
and rearranged to a tidier layout according to size. The components are
rearranged to make them look almost an identifiable as the original map. The
French artist displays the original maps alongside the decontextualized shapes,
giving the audience and context of how the map started and how the map
finished. This is an interesting idea in which it is presenting the audience
with something they already know, although it has been rearranged to create
intrigue into looking like something they no longer recognise. This is
something interesting and I believe could influence part of my wayfinding
system, or my further research.
