Pictogram Developments

These are the finalised arrow pictograms made up from the asterisk, each part is the same and pretty much identical apart from the down arrow because they are all taken from parts of the asterisk. This is also the reason why some of them are on an unusual slant, they are taken directly from the original pictogram rather than being rotated. I think these are clear and concise and give the message needed to the audience, they can be presented in the book as well as being printed up on vinyl and cut out to be placed on the streets to direct people towards the next location, the colour when printed and cut would be the same as the printed booklet. Showing that the two are linked is important, as it creates intrigue which may create more interest for the booklet.

The asterisk itself will be on the ground in the spot where the audience must stand to be able to get the best angle for holding the image up to align it to the current scene in Leeds; I will be mocking this up later on. The asterisk will also be an overlaid colour on each of the images in the booklet, this is why the asterisk having 5 arms is important, as each location one arm will be cut out to allow the user to look through to make the visual comparison of the building as well as the surroundings.

I have also started to develop the pictograms of the buildings; I feel I have picked out the small details against large white spaces to keep spacing important and therefore keeping the pictograms simplistic. I will also be considering the material it will be printed on, I think if the material is different it will add a different type of texture to the piece as well as making these pictograms differentiate from the other pictograms, this could be either through tracing paper or acetate.
