Initial Ideas and Sketches for Pictograms

To go alongside the arrows, I will also be creating some pictograms of the buildings that will be in the way finding system, my first idea came from looking at the map of the final locations. From this view I thought what if I took the idea of the footprint of the buildings from google maps, this creates something that is simplistic and can be memorable to build up notoriety for what building the pictogram belongs to. These would be very simplistic single line drawings, with no fill; as I want to go as simple as possible when it comes to these pictograms as I don’t really want to add another confusing layer to the booklet without there having to be. Keeping the booklet as simple as possible is key as I want it to be completely visual. Although I don’t think that these pictograms would work though as they are so abstract the audience won’t be able to tell where the clue is leading to.

My second idea would be to create some line drawings which picked out a few of the distinct features from the architecture, to be able to show a slight bit of the building to give the audience a clue to where the next location is. I think this suits my idea better as it is still simplistic, as it keeps the simplistic line drawing to keep simplicity as key for the booklet but still have enough visual information to in fit with the planned booklet.
