Tea - Label Ideas

After deciding on the style of tin that I would like to place the design of the tea on, I began to consider the style of label that would best fit the brand and the target demographic. I believe that the label should be part of that in itself as reusability of the tin was one of the main considerations of the brief therefore if the tin  was to have a label which could be  removed at a later date it would not keep notoriety for the brand consistent after that he itself had been used.
We were also told to take into consideration the way in which the tin can be manipulated to make it into a different texture/format. Therefore I believe the best way to get the brand idea across would be through a simplistic white label containing all of the information needed about the tea on both the front and back. This label will not be removable and will be embossed into the metal itself, creating a contrasting texture to the rest of the tin, and allowing for reusability while still reminding the consumer of the brand.
With these considerations in mind I began to sketch ideas out in a book, I believe this was the best way to be able to decide on narrow down which designs to be able to move forward with. As this is one of the smaller briefs which I am acting on, I want to narrow down the digital development time I am doing, and engage with my ideas and more hands-on manner. Also due to the nature of the brief being metal-based my dear will be conceptual and therefore believe noting my ideas down on paper the best way to directly put down my thoughts.

In this small selection of my original designs I was experimenting with the way in which the layout could work. The top design shows a label which would wrap around the entirety of the tin,  this would be printed directly onto the tin. The section in which it says cut out to expose the tin would be where the flavours would be presented to the consumer. Keeping the majority of the flavours the key  focus to the design itself. Although this would be useful in keeping the focus on the brand identity and the product itself, I believe that more colourful and impactful design would benefit on the shelf, and would also encourage the reusability of the tin.
The layout design on the lower half shows a simple centralised design in which all the beneficial information is given, such as the weight of the amount of tea that is in the tin as well as the logo and the name of the flavour that the tin contains. This would be the most simplistic of designs and also in fit with what I was saying earlier about not taking away from the tin and making it is mostly useful as possible. This would enable a more visual approach to the rest of the tin, meaning it will be more likely to stand out against competitors.

The top design uses a hierarchical layout in which the brand identity is the main focus, the flavour is then presented and at the bottom the other information such as the weight of the content of the teawithin the tin itself.  This would be an equal square, which may need to be adapted depending on the size of the tin that we are able to obtain. Although the square border of this label would enable it to stand out against the tin and make the information prominent.
The design on the lower left, features a simplistic approach, which includes visuals in comparison to the other labels; visuals would represent the flavours within that type of tea. This would work in making the tin or visual  outcome rather than the functionality of the product. This is it that I could experiment being in a luxury design the consumer is looking for a factor of difference rather than factor functionality. Although this is something I would need to experiment with further stages, I do not wish it to take away from the design of the actual tool itself.

Chosen Layout

I've decided to go with the second design this is because of its simplicity, which will allow the focus to be kept on the tin itself. As the brand's new I wanted to be as clear and concise as possible so people can gain notoriety for the brand and also have familiarity with the product.  I also wish to keep the visual aspects solely to the tin, as it needs to stand out on the shelf and stand out against competing products this is a key feature mentioned within the brief. Therefore I will be experimenting with visuals to gain the best unique look from the tin itself.
