Mossy Bank: Location Research

To be able to gain a better understanding of the space that when designing a logo for, I began to look into the social media post made by the current Facebook page linked to the committee. this also allowed me to create a better understanding of the type of people are engaging with this committee and also gain a better look at the surroundings in which one may affect my design decisions later on.

The Facebook page itself does not contain any content as of current, this is because of the committee being new, I will need to take into consideration that the logo will be presented on this site and needs to be eye-catching and simplistic in order to be memorable for the local area.

In order to get a better understanding of the type of audience that will be viewing this work, when printed and put into situ, I looked into the statistics of the age groups that live within the area. The majority of the age groups there would be interested in this type of committee and engaging with the area in which they live in is aged between 25 and 59. Therefore I can take into consideration that my designs can be at a more sophisticated level, and potentially take a more conceptual basis, Due to the demographic that will be most engaging with it.   Yet I must still take into consideration the fact that this is a public committee and therefore will have wider views from not only the area in which the people are living.

Sutton Coldfield is a whole, has recently had a new town council rebrand. The logo within the brief is told to in fit with this new design style as this is the area which the land lays in. From this, I can understand the design style they wished the logo to be kept to. Using flat colours against each other to create the illusion of depth and keep the peace simplistic and modern.

As can be seen below from the images of the location, the main trees within the area are Yew, oak and pine. This is something I could possibly incorporate into my design, as it would make it area specific towards the location itself. Giving a further identifiable when placed in the location. I will also like to experiment with the different colours found in the images, as this may influence my design and would create a colour specific pallet based around the nature in which the logo will set, and relate to in other settings.
