Adidas - After Effects Animation and Elements

I decided to use after effects to create the animation as it was the appropriate program, after looking at previous submissions to d&ad we decided that animation would best suit our app. Through the use of animation, we would be able to explain the reasoning behind the creation of the app and also show the way in which the app works.

Mid Edit
In order to animate in the way in which I needed I had to export each individual layers into separate artboards, to enable me to edit them successfully through the use of multiple effects.

Similar to other Adobe programs, after effects use layers. This familiarity allowed me to get designing quickly, through the use of the aid of my storyboard, due to the nature of the animation and the way in which we need to visualise what we were saying some elements had to be re illustrated or illustrated from scratch adding time onto the design schedule.

Once the reasoning behind the app was explained I had to show the way in which the app would work on an actual screen,  in order to do this to after effects had to create a new animation within a different board, which was then later slotted back into the original animation. This is due to the use of cameras within the animation explanation stage which would not allow me to only focusing on one particular element of the screen to explain the phone's app style visually.

overall the teaching process and actual animation process of after effects took me around 4-5 days, this would have been a quicker process if we were able to collaborate with an animator.  Although I do believe the way that we have animated it enables Adidas to see how the app would really work for their demographic and change the fabric of one of their major cities. This process also allowed me to keep the Adidas branded guidelines and design style which we used in the app itself thus tying together the project as a whole.
