Micro-music Genre - Final Outcomes

The first outcome was visualising the golf estate situation, the finished product can be seen as figure 1 when scanned in the colours seem to have diminished, to combat this with photoshop the levels were changed to brighten up the colours intensify the contrast and gain saturation. Therefore making the image appropriate.

Although the image successfully represents what I wanted it to and is so random that nobody without previous contacts would understand it, represents the way in which fidget house was created and withholds its reputation, I wanted to make a reference to how fidget has built its reputation on its other genres such as electro house by stealing its techniques. Therefore I decided to experiment with creating poster style event listings, this is the best way to visually ensure that, the audience knows the exact intent of the image. My experiment can be seen below in figure 2 and figure 3. A gradient was added to the background which fits with the visual literacy found in other house posters, therefore ensuring the audience knew the link. To them further, the way in which the link could be expressed in the image cutouts were made underneath the ice to form drips this is signifying tears therefore relevant to the image itself, was also allowing for more the gradient to show through. The type selection was made once again to complement the visual literacy that already exists roundhouse, therefore, allowing the audience to know the basics of what is happening with the image.
To also experiment with the way in which the piece could implement different textures I experimented with the idea of foiling, falling would be a process which would add an incandescence style layer to the piece, the following experiment patch which I created what successfully although believe if it was put on the posters there would be too much going on and it would distract away from the actual imagery used within the posters, therefore I decided to remain with the idea of simply using cutouts that expose the gradient underneath. (The experiment can be seen in figure 4)

Although after speaking with tutors about the piece it was made clear to me that the task at hand for the brief was to create visuals which clearly explain the micro-genre which I had selected. If the type was needed on the piece then surely are not visually explaining the piece to a certain extent. This led my thought process to the elimination of typing the outcomes. The image would be enlarged to leave the small border of the gradient around the original collage, the cutouts would remain to be able to show a link between the gradient and the image itself, the link here being the confusion layers and general aesthetic of the image with the creation of the music. Without this cutout sections, the image would simply look like it was placed on a frame, through doing this I am in keeping with the visual style of the house and not leaving the audience completely bewildered by the meaning of the piece. Even though the intent of the piece is to confuse and create another dimensional thought about the genre itself and the way in which it visualises a surrealist situation that went too far, directly paralleling the genre itself, oblivious more visual link will tie the pieces together as they are all completely separate as well as making them appropriate to the brief itself.

The outcomes themselves each contain a different colour gradient to further separate the works. I believe the college techniques have been successful in creating a piece which is both confusing, layered, and creates a situation in which something would not exist. All of which brought together in the singular piece similar to the way in which house music is bringing together communities, which are misunderstood by the outside world.
The outcomes will be printed on A3 satin paper, which will feature the colours in the best light considering they will be put into an exhibition situation, these prints will be full bleed to ensure that the colourist put all the way to the edge, and the image is not hindered by any whitespace.
I believe because the so much going on in each picture it reflects the way in which there is so much going on in each song, as discovered earlier in the research with graphic designers who do work for house music DJs, I am also trying to get the audience to be finding something new and keep looking at the piece to discover and try and understand what they're trying to portray.
