In order to be able to successfully understand the industry in stores and from someone who knows more about the industry than most, I interviewed someone who works at MAC Cosmetics in Selfridges, London. Through doing so I was able to ask questions about the industry first hand from a male who understands the way that it works through the first-hand experience.
The answers to the question were quite expected from what I had already learnt from my extensive research, they also correlate with many of the ideas that had been highlighted to me in the questionnaire. It did reaffirm to me that a gender-neutral brand would be more effective than a male-focused one, this was from the question which stated that the women actually like asking for help from males in the store because they believe if they're good with their makeup they must really know what they're doing. This just shows me that there should not be a further separation between the genders in the industry, rather an evener balance of what is represented; thus allowing for the change of opinion of males who use makeup in societies view.
