In the initial ideas stage, both Emma and I took a different approach and came up with ideas separately, we then came back together and discussed whether there were any cross overs in the ideas that we had produced that we could carry forward.
We both decided to focus on two ideas, being 'growth' and the idea around 'infinite' possibilities.
Infinite
"Creative professions can take an infinite number of forms. Paths, motives, outputs and stories vary, but there are some constants. Stay tuned over the next week for some of the key insights shared by our stellar lineup." - Creative Convos, LAU Instagram 2018We decided to look at this idea of infinite as on the LAU Graphics Instagram, the caption above was posted on the creative convos poster. I experimented combining two 'c's together with a break in the middle to represent an infinity symbol with symmetric 'c's. However, upon evaluation, we felt that this logo looked too similar to the Adobe Creative Cloud logo as can be seen in figure 1, in an attempt to combat this I decided to experiment with the logo in a serif format, visually exemplifying the traditional methods of conversation we had looked into. Although we felt this was not the best representative of the brief itself and therefore we decided to work in another direction.

We chose to look at the idea of growing, as we felt that learning from and with industry professionals would help us grow as designers, and also in our creative practice as a whole. Figures 3 and 4 show experimentation with floral imagery by changing the colour hue adjustment in Photoshop. We felt that bold colours would be eye-catching and represent the creativity being shared. This was used as an initial idea to be able to see if we could further the concept itself into a logo and campaign that could be representative of the brief and the ethos behind the event. I also took the time to quickly experiment with the layering of type over the imagery, to be able to gather a feel for whether or not the imagery could be used successfully as a brand identity for an event, as can be seen in figure 5 and 6.

Revising the idea
As we had experimented with the first two ideas, we both
felt as if the visual tone of voice was not correct for the type of event that
we were putting on a university. Therefore, we decided to go back brainstorm
and revisit the idea of connectivity. We decided to explore connectivity due to
the fact that conversations an engagement with industry is making connections.
We began by looking into the idea of circuits and how a circuit is a closed network, meaning each of the elements within a circuit need
to benefit from each other in order to have a fully working circuit. Without
this was representative of the way in which creative convos worked as each of
the professionals will be visiting will give us a new idea into the creative
process of our own work and they will also be learning from teaching us,
developing an understanding of the professionals that will be joining them in
the industry. We felt that each guest could be a different element within the
circuit themselves, by the end of the week creating a closed-circuit, finish
skill set for both the professionals and the students.
