Two researching into businesses also within the local area,
I could gain an understanding of the visual aspects which seem popular in order
to gain the attention of the audience within the area. Could also see the way
in which competitor brands have been branded, in turn allowing me to create
something that is different and stand out against the competitive brands. In
doing so the new brand will stand out, and gain notoriety amongst the community
in which it will serve. This will also give the opportunity to create something
that is on a higher level of sophistication visually in comparison to the other
brands.

The Four Oaks |
- Overcomplicated.
- Too many points of visual difference, overuse of different
colours create a confusing outcome.
- The type does not take hierarchy, contact information should not
be included within the logo itself.
- Serif type to give an elegant and classy feel to reflect
the area in which the business sets, being an influential suburb of Birmingham.

Treewise |
- Overcomplicated with the addition of certifications within
the logo itself.
- Logomark itself consistent with colour, serif typeface used
again, although seem to be added to a Sanserif base, giving an over
complicated feel to something which should be simplistic.
- Use of the tree may be other complications when it comes to
transitioning the logo onto collateral design such as uniforms.

Elms Tree Services |
- The logo offers more simplicity with a fan serif typeface.
- The logo is clearly based around the idea of the square
imagery, giving it a better visual consistency and clear colour scheme.
- Don't believe the typeface needs to be abbreviated as well
as containing the entire name, this makes the logo overcomplicated.
- the use of a gradient within the logo at the necessary
depth, simplicity is the best way forward for a logo.

Tonks Brothers |
- The logo is simple and more modern than the others.
- An abstract interpretation of imagery allows for visual links
to the business, whilst also remaining simplistic and memorable due to its
unique style against others.
- Simplistic type allows for a feature on the name of the business itself in the name of the people running it.
- Bright accent colour can contrast against the colours used
throughout the branding to make branding more memorable.
Moving Forward:
- All of the logos contain imagery of trees themselves
possibly look into the idea of using just an element or other imagery related
to the specialism of tree surgery, in order to create a visual difference.
- An accent colour works better to go with the branding than
in the Lego itself.
- Simply some needs to be key in order to get the brand across
in the most memorable way in comparison to some of the more complex logos that
are in the same area.
- A more modern approach such as can be seen in the last example needs to be taken in order to be able to represent the key values of
the business, being modern sophisticated, whilst young and vibrant, due to the
people who are running it.
