Pantone Research

Pantone is a company that is best known for its colour matching system, which is used primarily in print. The system is used for colour reproduction system. By standardising the colours, a designer can communicate the exact colour they require to print the design precisely how they intended. Pantone colours are described by their allocated number, the recognition system is used to get the correct branding identity and corporate identity for clients when completing a brief for them. This has now even moved into the government sector, in January 2003 the Scottish parliament debated a petition to refer to the blue used in the Scottish flag as Pantone 300.
