SB2 Initial Idea Sketches

Design Sketches 1, 2 and 3

Design sketch one:

• This idea has one image in the middle
• The main headline text is overlaying the image and the surrounding is white space
• 50 either side of the imagery, celebrating the 50 years of the carnival, the reiteration and the filling of the white space reconsolidates the importance of this
• The information is below in small paragraphs below, keeping the main focus on the imagery above.

Design sketch two:

• The back ground would be a full carnival image from the past of the carnival, celebrating the 50 years’ history of the carnival.
• This would be the main focus of the piece the information would be put over the image in a white translucent frame, the text would have the full intense colour of the image coming through. The LS8 would be on the border of the white, revealing more of the full colours of the image below.

Design sketch three:

• The third design focused more around the symbols that are involved with carnival, here the headpiece this would be a simple line drawing and block colour, the colours would be representative of the carnival.
• The colours could link to the branding and identity of the current branding.
• The information and text below would be in three small paragraphs, keeping the focus on the imagery and what it depicts.

Design Sketches 4, 5 and 6

Design sketch four:

• This sketch has room for three images, one to represent the location where the parade is, one to represent the past of the parade and one to represent the current parade style.
• The largest other content on the page is the ‘50’ telling the audience that this is one of the most important things about the event. Reiterating the fact that it is the anniversary.

Design sketch five:

• This sketch depicts the carnival and the park as it is without the carnival, the image behind shows the park without the carnival and the image inside being the park with carnival.
• LS8 is a major part of this poster as that is where the carnival has always taken place.
• The information is split up into more sections giving it a more balanced style.

Design sketch six:

• This give the space for two images, one of the past carnival and one of the current, giving a visual explanation of the past to now.
• This contains the large 50 and an alternate angle of the title giving it an alternate grid system to the other posters.
