Leeds Carnival Image |
This image is a
recent image from the carnival showing the colours of the costumes, it also
shows how the park is set up when the carnival is on. Images like these could
be used in the print, or could be used for colours to use within the poster;
similar to the way that colours have been taken from some of the past photos. There
are examples of this technique on their current online presence.

Early Leeds Carnival |

Arthur France Creator |
These images above
are of the carnival in their early days and it proves the love and need for the
carnival in the community of Leeds. This is something that I want to make
evident within the designs, to show the strong historical links to the carnival
and the need to continue it, which has made it into a tradition. These photos
show the love for the celebration, as well as the person who created it; this
could be used in the print to give a direct link to its origins and its
history. These images could
be recoloured into a variation of bright colours bring the tradition and modern
concept of the carnival together in a piece.

Uni of Leeds |
This is an image
from Uni of Leeds, this is the university with Arthur France attended when he began
the carnival. This is the very beginning of the basis for the carnival to give
him the feeling of home, and also bring back a sense of home for the others in
the west-Indian community of Leeds. I am considering
using my own images of university of Leeds within my work to represent the
start of the carnival.
