When taking into consideration our branding identity we
wanted to create something that was evidently inspired by tabloid newspapers, by
being by tabloid newspapers from the broadsheets there is more visual identity
that we can pick up on, mainly the red headline. From this headline colour we began to discuss the way in
which we can portray our brand to make it evident across all platforms,
including print and social media.
Logo |
The logo, which was a group decision development, consists
of three evenly spaced evenly wide. This simple logo is something that could be
developed into many different variations, as well as be translated into
different formats. This is the basis logo meaning that adaptions of this will
be used throughout the branding, this is the logo that would be used on social
media due to the small icons this simple depiction embodies our brand. The red consists
of 100% magenta and 100% yellow, this is a consistently bright and one is also
easily reproduced, allowed the ease of use between a group of people. We chose
to do three lines rather than one or two, to represent three different layers
within printing; the bed, the paper, and the print.
Colour Scheme |
To be able to keep our designs consistent throughout the
design of the branding, we decided to create a colour scheme. As people be
simple keeping the focus on creating clean cut modern depiction of the
newspaper. In order to do so we kept the colour scheme to a simple black white
red. This repeater shared to each member of the team, ensuring the designs are
consistent throughout the branding development.
Typography Choices |
To ensure consistency throughout the branding design, we
decided that we would only use two typefaces throughout the branding
development. Times new Roman was chosen, as will investigating into newspapers,
this was the only typeface used for body text; therefore, to be able to capture
this visual identity using the same property tax within the catalogue and other
aspects of the visual branding. The headline text will be using Franklin
Gothic, this is the font that is used by the sun, again reiterating tabloid’esk
identity. These typefaces were made available in the group.
