Presented Idea 1 |
From my crit it was
discussed that the emblem in the middle needs to be developed to further depict
the head-dresses used within the carnival and that the grid layout should be
experimented with, keeping the image but not making it such a central focus. The
placement of the text should also be adapted to give it a sense of hierarchy,
ensuring the information is as clear as possible for the audience. The colour
scheme is bright and works, but would be good to have some of the red on the
poster, that appeared in some previous designs. The typeface works well as it
coincides with the modern block emblem, and contrasts well against the historic
factor; which has been further modernised through the colour change.

Presented Idea 2 |
From my crit it was
discussed that this design has more of a celebratory feel to it because of the
number being so large and the colour that it is, the eye is drawn to this part
of the piece. The contrast between the negative space and the image taking half
of the page works well, as it makes the image seem dominant to the information;
leading to intrigue about its reasoning. It’s nice that the image links back to
the origins of the carnival, and makes it feel like it is a special occasion
being the original image; although there is no visual links to the modern day
carnival itself. The concept wouldn’t be graspable without the type.
