To be able to
get a better understanding of the environment which is transformed into a
carnival paradise every year I decided to go to the location. From this I took
photographs in order to attempt to take some inspiration and possible imagery
that I could use in my designs. This could also give me the opportunity to take
some colours from some of the images, and incorporate them within my designs.
The parade
begins at Potternewton Park each year at 2pm, which then turns left down
Harehills Avenue, right onto Harehills Lane and right again down Roundhay Road;
right onto Barrack Road, right again onto Chapeltown Road before turning right
onto Harehills Avenue and back into Potternewton Park. My focus for this
research would be Potternewton Park being the start and end point for the
parade and where most of the celebrations take place.
