The image is repeated and flipped the background is IKB and
has been added to resemble a border, the flipped nature of the poster is
reaffirmed by the hand-drawn logo type imagery. The ultra-marine border forces
the audience to focus their attention on the white space and its contents
because of its high contrast with the IKB, making it seem more crisp in
comparison to how it would normally appear.
This poster features 3 simple colours, making the poster
have the effect of negative space, even though it is completely filled with IKB.
The important writing is done in a simple typeface and in white, communicated
the point concisely, and further confirming modern atheistic. The lesser
important information is colour black, as it doesn’t contrast as much as the
white does with the IKB, to the point where the text almost blends with the
colour.
In comparison to the last two pieces IKB is used differently
here, rather than it filling most of the space, it is used to created
highlights; drawing attention into a particular part; the eye is drawn to the centre.
The chosen typeface is simple, the most simple font is used to be able to be
legible against the background which has intersecting lines of the same hue.
IKB here is used as a highlighter, it draws the attention of
the audience to ‘Like in’ as the type is centred in the middle of the block. This
is evened out in the bottom of the poster by the use of negative space,
allowing the information seem as significant as the text within the IKB, as it
is the only content within this space.
This poster uses IKB to almost confuse the audience’s
perception of the poster. The poster background contrasts against the white
logo because of its high contrast, telling the audience what the poster is
about. Yet the information about the event itself is hidden within a midst of
white cut outs, underneath the title text, but above the IKB background, almost
disguising it as part of the pattern. The designer has done this to confuse the
audience but give them the information and intrigue to be able to learn more
about the content of the poster through them investigating further into its
contents.
Finally, this poster uses IKB in a way that none of the
other works have, the picture is colourised in the hue. This changes the
perception of the image, giving more of a visual impact than it would if it was
in greyscale. The image almost becomes uncomfortable to look at for too long
because of the amount of high contrast involved between the clean white and
deep marine elements; thus making it more memorable. Due to this uncomfortable,
yet impactful, visual the type chosen consists of Helvetica, the simplest of
typefaces, allowing the information to be seen clearly and quickly; reaffirmed
by the way it has been placed in the lighter parts of the image so it is not
lost in the IKB.
