Cherrytree Bakery - Chosen Logotype

Figure 1
The chosen logotype features a more decorative lighter weighted typeface, that can be seen in the previous experimentations. A slight outline has been added to find a medium between the thin typeface and what should be a standard book font, as one did not exist in this type-family. This was to make the type stand out more when taking into consideration the elements which it will need to be presented on and the sizing it will need to be. This was also to vigorous highlight the name itself against the other content in the logo, as there will further be added some sort of visual logomark which will sit alongside and individually as a visual alone. Sans serif type was used in order to relate to the industry in which artisan bakeries are set, stripping type back to its basics; allowing the new business to fit in within a largely saturated market, and be able to make an impact on its customers. The x-height of the original typeface had been changed by 10pt, which allows for a shorter overall feel, this enables the design to be tied in tighter with the text below, and through alignment give a sense of equality throughout the text, even though their contrasting size and style.

The words 'of Lancashire' have been given a point of visual difference in this variation to ensure it isn't amongst the stronger, larger sans serif type above, rather than using a handwritten type, I decided to use an italic serif typeface. This resembles traditional handwriting methods and also gives a feel of being handwritten, whilst retaining an element of being classic and elegant. This was kept in order to reflect the strong family nature of the business and its heritage, as well as making sure the location of the business itself was highlighted and therefore bringing it to the forefront of the title. This was also visually implemented with the use of two single point lines either side of the lettering, bringing the eyes of the audience into the type and further highlighting its importance to the business and the family themselves, as discovered through their wording within their website and existing statements made about the current business.
