Cherrytree Bakery - Crit 1

Within the crit, I took the opportunity to approach my peers and tutors with the name generation I had so far explored, as well as the general approach I was taking towards the brief. In terms of entering submission and what should be considered and needed to be able to do so on a professional level.

Name generation feedback:

  • Entwistle's tradition - The word tradition makes them feel too traditional? It doesn't seem artisan and contemporary enough to be able to appeal to a younger consumer market, and also move with 'the coffee shop movement' and where it is going, aka hipster and younger people with higher disposable income.
  • Entwistle's table - The wording makes it sound like a carpenter or furniture store rather than a bakery, doesn't particularly have the personal feeling intended with this wording and order.
  • Entwistle's Bakehouse - Reminds someone of a workhouse, sounds like an uninviting place to be/work and therefore an uninviting place to purchase products from/be engaged with business in.
Moving forward:
Consider the other parts of the business that is key to their trade and see if there could be any direction from there with the name, which may in turn help towards the overall branding identity when it comes to it.
Look further into the family, see if there is any history you could pick up on to be able to further identify the direction of the brand.

General approach feedback:
  • Keep up the momentum and ensure to produce as many outcomes as possible to present to the client to be able to give them an overall idea of the way the solution of the brief could turn out if taken on board.
