ID - Research Plan

Due to the nature of the brief, I decided to create an initial plan that will let me think about the different avenues and areas I can look into regarding the issue. I want to focus on the transport issues that sit alongside living with an invisible illness/disability, I need to investigate into both public and private transportation, as both of which I have found to cause issues within the community.

Public transport ideas:
  • Travel passes, eligibility for people with disabilities being judged for having specific passes or taking carers with them.
  • Buses, trains - priority seating being used by the wrong people and not being given up to the right people.
  • Times when people need to be close to their form of transport and haven't been able to.
  • Campaigns that have attempted to happen in the past how they have and haven't worked.
Private transport:
  • Look into the ways that people need their priorities they get, e.g. spaces etc.
  • How to make people not judge others for having to use disabled bay spaces just from having a first look at them and presuming about their disability.
  • More visually inclusive ways of incorporating invisible disability into the identity that is associated with 'disability' - the blue badge.
Types of media to investigate:
  1. news stories
  2. articles
  3. papers
  4. documentaries
  5. youtube videos - people talking of their own experience
  6. primary research sources
