AC - First Meeting

In the first meeting with Abi we began to discuss some of the ideas, and direction, to begin researching into to lead the design process of the branding itself. 
Key points to consider include:
  • inspired by finish design 
  • overall Scandinavian design
  • must include images of work on collateral designs 
  • the colour selection must be considered
  • research into hygge lifestyle 
  • type considerations
Overall the designer is very inspired by Scandinavian print designers, this gives me a basis to research into and analyse their branding to be able to produce a body of research that will allow the designer to be able to tap into their style of branding which is the best representative of this type of design and see if there is any correlation within the style of artwork that the designer which I am branding creates. 

Within my research, I will also be creating brand personas to be able to research into the types of brands that have the same target audience as Abi, as well as looking into the brands that particular type of person buys into, and therefore look into the visual styles they adapt to represent themselves. Through doing this, I will be able to create a design that fits into the style of the audience which the artist wants to connect with and create a branding identity that will coincide with the lifestyle of these brands; thus directly being relevant to a new audience. 

When asked which type of brands do you see yourself aspiring to be like/fitting in with:

  5. Marimekko
  6. Rose & Grey
  7. Persora Of Pershore
The brands that I have highlighted in bold are the ones in which I see the most similarity between the design of the work by Abi, and their own style. 
I will be investigating into each of these brands and seeing who their customer is, what design style they believe best contrasts with their product and the way in which their branding is adaptable to be able to consider the outcomes for the brief.
